Bitcoin Casinos: how they work, what to check and how the ones we cover compare

What a bitcoin casino really offers on deposits, withdrawals and fees, the risks for UK readers, and an honest look at the six we track.

What are bitcoin casinos?

A bitcoin casino takes deposits in bitcoin and pays winnings back in bitcoin, either as its main currency or as one coin among many. BitStarz, open since 2014, was built around BTC; Stake lists it as one of 22 coins (as of 5 October 2026). All six casinos on this page take Bitcoin, all are offshore crypto sites, and none holds a UK Gambling Commission licence.

People use them for speed and to keep a bank out of the picture. A Bitcoin payment goes from your wallet to an address the casino gives you and, once it is in a block, cannot be pulled back. The protocol aims for 2,016 blocks every two weeks, which works out at one block roughly every ten minutes, so an on-chain deposit can take anything from ten minutes to an hour to credit, depending on how many confirmations the casino waits for. Mega Dice's own site quotes 10 to 30 minutes for a Bitcoin deposit.

Some casinos also accept Lightning, a payment layer on top of Bitcoin that settles off-chain in seconds and, in the words of the Lightning Network project, allows "exceptionally low fees". Trustpilot reviewers of BC.Game in October 2026 describe Lightning withdrawals arriving quickly. A Lightning invoice and an ordinary Bitcoin address are different things, so check which one the cashier is showing before you send.

The network fee is paid to Bitcoin miners and rises and falls with demand for block space; the casino does not set it, though some add their own charge. Fair Gambling's snapshot of 5 October 2026 shows Stake taking 0.00001571 BTC on a Bitcoin withdrawal, with a minimum withdrawal of 0.00002504 BTC. How to choose a bitcoin casino

Judge speed by reports, not banners. AskGamblers lists crypto withdrawals at 0 to 1 hours for both Stake and BitStarz. Mega Dice's homepage says Bitcoin usually arrives within 10 minutes to an hour, rising to 24 hours when a payment is reviewed, but that is the casino describing itself. The slow cases in complaint files almost always involve a manual review, not the blockchain.

Read the limits before the bonus. Rollbit's minimums are 0.0001 BTC to deposit and 0.0002 BTC to withdraw, and a new account must deposit and wager $10 before its first withdrawal, according to Casinos.org. BitStarz has a €50 minimum withdrawal on AskGamblers and, per Casinos.com, a C$50,000 per-transaction cap on crypto. Betpanda's homepage advertised "Zero fees & limits" on 11 October 2026 while its own help centre capped withdrawals at €5,000 a day, €15,000 a week and €45,000 a month. Mega Dice's terms allow €150,000 per rolling 30 days.

Check what you are paid in. A BTC balance that stays in BTC exposes you to the coin's price for as long as it sits there. Betpanda only lets you withdraw in the coin you deposited. If a cashier converts your deposit into a dollar balance and back again on withdrawal, you pay a spread twice, so look for the rate before you play.

Find the licence on the regulator's own register. The Curaçao Gaming Authority's certificate page lists Stake's licence, OGL/2024/1451/0918, as active, and its registry lists BitStarz's operator Gareton B.V. under OGL/2024/165/0185. The same authority's certificate for Rollbit's former operator, Bull Gaming N.V., reads "Revoked". A footer logo is not evidence; the register is.

Expect identity checks at withdrawal. "No KYC" usually means no documents to sign up. Stake runs four verification levels up to source of funds, and complaint files for BC.Game and Betpanda describe documents requested only after a large win.

The risks

For UK readers the legal position is simple. A business needs a Gambling Commission licence to offer gambling to people in Great Britain wherever it is based, and the Gambling Commission's guidance says one without a licence is "acting illegally". Stake, Rollbit, BC.Game and BitStarz all state that they do not accept UK players. Mega Dice and Betpanda leave the UK off their restricted lists but hold no UK licence. On any of these sites you are outside GAMSTOP self-exclusion and outside UKGC complaint and safer gambling rules.

No UK-licensed casino takes Bitcoin yet. In February 2026 the Commission's executive director, Tim Miller, called a review of crypto payments at licensed operators a "tentative first step", tied to the FCA's crypto regime, which is expected to start in October 2027, as Intergame reported.

The coin moves while you play. The FCA warns that cryptoassets "tend to be very volatile" and that buyers should be prepared to lose all their money. A BTC balance can shrink between deposit and withdrawal without a single losing spin, and a winning session can be wiped out by the price.

Transfers are final. Send to the wrong address or the wrong chain and nobody can reverse it. Betpanda's help pages put that risk on the player, giving BTC sent to a BCH address as the example.

Hot wallets are not reserves. Trackers such as Fair Gambling publish casinos' public wallet balances, but those show money on-chain, not what is owed to players. None of the six publishes an audited proof of reserves that we could find.

Bonuses carry wagering rules that decide whether bonus money ever becomes cash. Gambling is for over-18s, wins are not income, and free confidential help is available from BeGambleAware.

How the casinos we cover compare

BitStarz has the strongest record here and is the only one we rate Good. It has run since 2014, its licence appears on the Curaçao registry, and on 12 October 2026 Trustpilot showed 4.3 from 5,443 reviews with replies to 97% of negative ones. AskGamblers lists 26 complaints, 18 resolved. Against that, the licence is offshore, the owners are not named, and rejected complaints involve bonus and duplicate-account confiscations.

Stake is Mixed. Its Curaçao licence checks out, AskGamblers showed 46 of 74 complaints resolved on 11 October 2026, and Trustpilot rated it 3.9 from 12,035 reviews. The concerns are real: a September 2026 leak of Curaçao regulator files raised questions over who controls it, about $41 million was taken from its hot wallets in September 2023 in a theft the FBI attributed to North Korea's Lazarus Group, and its UK white-label partner surrendered its licence in 2025.

BC.Game is Poor. In November 2024 Curaçao's Court of Appeal declared its former operators, BlockDance and Small House, bankrupt on petitions involving player claims of about $1.48 million and $680,000, as the Curaçao Chronicle reported. BC.Game said it disagreed and would appeal. It now cites an Anjouan licence we could not find on a public register, and it reported a $4.3 million exploit in March 2026.

Rollbit is Poor. Many players report fast withdrawals, but its Curaçao certificate reads revoked, it moved to an Anjouan licence in September 2026 without public explanation, its founders are known only by handles, and Trustpilot rated it 1.6 from 4,137 reviews on 11 October 2026, with repeated reports of accounts closed after wins.

Mega Dice is Poor. The Curaçao licence named in its site code is listed as expired, the Anjouan register does not list megadice.com, and Sweden's regulator banned its operator companies in May 2025. Betpanda is Poor too: its own terms say it operates "not under any domestic licensing regime", and AskGamblers showed 8 of 25 complaints resolved on 11 October 2026, the largest an alleged $525,000 balance withheld, still unresolved.

Most of these casinos also appear in our Ethereum, USDT and stablecoin and altcoin lists, where the coin-specific checks differ.

FAQs

Are bitcoin casinos legal in the UK?

Not for the operator, unless it holds a Gambling Commission licence, and none of the bitcoin casinos we cover does. Any business offering gambling to people in Great Britain needs that licence wherever it is based. Stake, Rollbit, BC.Game and BitStarz say they do not accept UK players, and on any offshore site you are outside GAMSTOP and UKGC complaint routes.

How long does a bitcoin casino withdrawal take?

Usually under an hour once the casino approves it. AskGamblers lists crypto withdrawals at 0 to 1 hours for Stake and BitStarz, and Bitcoin itself adds a block roughly every ten minutes. The long waits in complaint files come from manual reviews and identity checks, which can take days, not from the network.

Do bitcoin casinos charge withdrawal fees?

The Bitcoin network always charges a miner fee, which moves with demand, and some casinos add or pass on their own. Fair Gambling recorded Stake charging 0.00001571 BTC per Bitcoin withdrawal on 5 October 2026. Check the cashier and the terms, because marketing such as Betpanda's "Zero fees & limits" can sit alongside capped withdrawals.

Can you use a bitcoin casino without KYC?

You can often sign up and deposit without documents, but that rarely holds at withdrawal. Stake has four verification levels up to source of funds, Rollbit suspends accounts at a withdrawal threshold until checks are done, and complaints at BC.Game and Betpanda describe ID requests arriving after big wins. Assume you will be asked before a large payout.

Which bitcoin casino has the best track record?

Of the six we cover, BitStarz has the strongest record and is the only one we rate Good: twelve years of operation, a licence on the Curaçao registry and a 4.3 Trustpilot score from over 5,000 reviews. That is a judgement on its history, not a recommendation to sign up, and its licence is still offshore.
