What is Sportsbet.io?
Sportsbet.io is a crypto-first sportsbook and casino launched in 2016 by the Estonian group then called Coingaming, now Yolo Group. It is best known in Britain for football shirt deals with Southampton and Watford and a three-season betting partnership with Arsenal, yet it does not accept UK players. Its website is sportsbet.io, and it sits in our crypto casino directory as one of the older names in the market.
- Launched: 2016, as the sportsbook arm of Coingaming Group.
- Operator: mBet Solutions N.V., Curaçao company number 129230, per the regulator's certificate. A review updated in October 2026 also names EZ Spins Ltd as the parent and an Anjouan licence (see Licence and safety).
- Licence (verified): Curaçao Gaming Authority, OGL/2023/110/0072, licensed since 22 July 2024, shown as active for sportsbet.io on 20 October 2026.
- Coins: BTC, ETH, LTC, USDT, USDC, XRP, ADA, BNB, LINK, SOL, TRX and DOGE across the directories we checked, plus fiat routes such as Pix and bank transfer in some markets.
- KYC: mandatory on withdrawals above EUR 2,500 or the crypto equivalent, and at the operator's discretion.
- Games: a sportsbook of about 30 sports with live betting and cash-out, plus more than 6,000 casino games.
- UK and US: both on its restricted list.
- Our rating: Mixed.
Our rating: Mixed
A ten-year-old crypto sportsbook with a Curaçao licence we verified, weighed down by a heavy record of withdrawal and KYC complaints and an owner trying to sell or retire it.
We rate crypto casinos from public sources only: the licence and what it covers, who owns it, what players report about withdrawals and complaints, how clear its terms are and how long it has been trading. Last reviewed 20 October 2026. How we rate crypto casinos.
History and ownership
Sportsbet.io was built inside Coingaming Group, the company Tim Heath founded in Tallinn in 2013, and launched in 2016, two years after its sister site Bitcasino.io. In September 2021 Coingaming rebranded as Yolo Group, with both consumer brands sitting in its Yolo Entertainment division, according to CryptoSlate's company profile. The brand's X account, @Sportsbetio, was opened in May 2016 and had 83,393 followers on 20 October 2026.
Sponsorship made the brand visible far beyond crypto circles. It became Arsenal's official betting partner for the 2020-21 to 2022-23 seasons, iGaming Business reported in September 2020, alongside a Southampton front-of-shirt deal and a Watford shirt deal. In October 2024 it signed a fan-engagement partnership with LaLiga covering the top flight and the second tier, and was then shirt sponsor of Hull City, Sportcal reported. Its X bio in October 2026 tags Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur and Western Sydney Wanderers; we could not confirm the terms of those ties.
The bigger story is that its owner is walking away from this kind of business. On 23 September 2025 ERR News reported that Yolo Group was cutting 280 jobs in Estonia, leaving unregulated markets and consolidating under a single Yolo brand. Gaming.net wrote four days later that Sportsbet.io and Bitcasino.io were expected to be phased out over time, with no dates given.
In February 2026 EGR and Gambling News, both citing The Australian, reported that Yolo was in talks to sell the two brands, with Betsson named as the buyer in talks. Neither company has announced a deal in anything we could find as of 20 October 2026, so treat the sale as reported, not confirmed. Meanwhile Yolo's own regulated brand, Yolo.com, went offline when its Tallinn casino closed on 30 September 2026, CDC Gaming reported. Sportsbet.io itself was still trading where it is available, with Trustpilot reviews posted as recently as 9 October 2026.
Games and sportsbook
Sports betting is the core product. CryptoSlate lists about 30 sports, from football, tennis and cricket to MMA, darts, Formula 1 and esports, with live betting, live streaming, a bet builder and full or partial cash-out. Its sportsbook review, updated on 5 October 2026, quotes a typical margin of about 1.5 percent on major markets, which is sharp by crypto sportsbook standards if it holds for the matches you bet on.
The casino is large. CryptoSlate counts more than 6,000 games, and AskGamblers lists 56 providers, including Evolution for live dealers and Pragmatic Play, NetEnt, Play'n GO, Relax Gaming and Nolimit City for slots. That means most of the big-name releases we review are likely to appear, such as Pragmatic's Gates of Olympus 2500 or Nolimit City's Duck Hunters 2, though catalogues vary by country and we did not check individual titles.
Alongside slots there are crash games, dice, mines and plinko, plus blackjack, roulette and baccarat tables. Neither directory we read describes a provably fair system for those originals in detail, so read the in-house fairness page before assuming one exists.
Deposits, withdrawals and KYC in practice
On paper, crypto cash-outs are quick and cheap. AskGamblers lists crypto and e-wallet withdrawals at 0 to 1 hour, bank transfers at 3 to 5 days and no withdrawal fees, while CryptoSlate's sportsbook review gives minimums of 20 USDT and says large crypto withdrawals are reviewed by hand. Coins accepted, as listed by the directories, include BTC, ETH, LTC, USDT, USDC, XRP, ADA, BNB, LINK, SOL, TRX and DOGE.
Large wins are paid in instalments. AskGamblers quotes a cap of 50 BTC a week until the full amount is paid; CryptoSlate's October 2026 review quotes weekly stages of up to 1,000,000 USDT. The two figures do not match, so check the current terms before staking for a big result.
Identity checks are the sticking point in practice. The terms make KYC mandatory on withdrawals above EUR 2,500 or the crypto equivalent and allow further checks at any time. Several AskGamblers complaints, and many 2025 and 2026 reviews on Trustpilot, describe repeated document requests before a payout, or balances held after verification. Those are player reports, not findings, but the pattern is consistent enough to plan for: verify before you need to withdraw.
Licence and safety
The Curaçao licence is real and current. The Curaçao Gaming Authority's certificate shows MBet Solutions N.V., company number 129230, licensed since 22 July 2024 under licence OGL/2023/110/0072, with the status Active and sportsbet.io as its approved domain when we checked on 20 October 2026. Before that, the brand cited the old Curaçao master licence 1668/JAZ, and Sportsbet.io's own footer, as captured by the Internet Archive on 1 September 2026, still named mBet Solutions and the CGA licence.
There is a loose end. CryptoSlate's sportsbook review, updated 5 October 2026, names EZ Spins Ltd as the parent company and lists an Anjouan licence, and sister site Bitcasino.io switched its footer to EZ Spins Ltd and an Anjouan licence between late August and mid-October 2026. We could not open Sportsbet.io's own pages from the UK to confirm whether its operator has changed too. If it has, Anjouan is a lighter licence than the reformed Curaçao regime.
What a Curaçao licence does and does not do matters here. It is an offshore licence: it gives a supervisor and a complaints route, but it is not the player protection of a UK, Swedish or Maltese licence, and disputes are hard to pursue from abroad. Several national regulators have blocked the domain as unlicensed in their markets: Swiss telecoms blocked it on the order of the federal casino commission in October 2020, Public Gaming reported, and a claims firm lists a Belgian block from March 2021. We found no published proof of reserves and no public game audit to point to.
Bonuses and VIP
Sportsbet.io runs a welcome offer, free bets, casino promotions and a VIP programme, but the published terms are not consistent. CryptoSlate's review lists a 10x sports rollover in one place and 25x wagering in its bonus section, and an older listing quotes 40x on casino bonus funds. Read the live terms for the offer in front of you, especially the maximum bet while wagering and which games count.
As with any crypto casino, a bonus is a contract with conditions, not free money. Wagering multiplies the amount you must stake before you can withdraw, and several Trustpilot complaints describe winnings removed after a bonus or verification dispute. We do not list promo codes.
Streamers and ambassadors at Sportsbet.io
None of the slot streamers we track lists Sportsbet.io as a main sponsor, and we found no current streamer deal we could confirm. The brand's marketing has leaned on football clubs and leagues rather than casino streamers, from Arsenal and Southampton to LaLiga and Hull City. If a streamer does play here, remember that sponsored creators often play with balances supplied by the casino, so their sessions are not a guide to your odds.
Complaints, controversies and what has gone wrong
Player reviews are heavily negative. On Trustpilot Sportsbet.io scored 1.2 out of 5 from 280 reviews on 20 October 2026, with 82 percent at one star. Sportsbet.io had replied to 23 percent of negative reviews, usually with a request to contact support privately, and in one 2026 reply it said its games use certified random number generators.
- Withdrawals held or unpaid: Trustpilot reviews dated 9 October 2026, 24 May 2026 and 4 April 2026 describe pending or unpaid withdrawals.
- Balances removed after KYC: reviews from 17 December 2025 and 6 September 2026 report accounts closed or balances removed after verification.
- Limits after winning: reviews from 16 September 2025 and 30 March 2026 say accounts were restricted after wins.
- AskGamblers: 16 complaints listed, 14 marked resolved on 20 October 2026, including a 2024 case over 10,000 USDT and a case of 4,173 USDT withheld over alleged multi-accounting; "resolved" is the site's label and does not always mean the player was paid.
- Other trackers: Fair Gambling showed 23 unresolved accusations on BitcoinTalk as of 7 September 2026; these are user claims and unverified.
The balance matters. AskGamblers' own players rate it 9.1 out of 10 from 244 reviews and its complaint record shows most cases closed, which suggests many players are paid without trouble. We found no regulator finding of misconduct, no court ruling and no hack with lost player funds. A claims firm, Clinton & Co, cites a Casino.guru Safety Index of 5.9; note that it earns from referrals.
The good and the bad, and our verdict
The good:
- A Curaçao licence verified on the regulator's own certificate, active in October 2026.
- Ten years of trading and partnerships with clubs and leagues that ran their own due diligence.
- A deep sportsbook with live betting and cash-out, and a large casino from major providers.
- Most AskGamblers complaints marked resolved.
The bad:
- A 1.2 Trustpilot score, with repeated reports of held withdrawals and balances removed after KYC.
- An owner that has said it is leaving unregulated markets, unconfirmed sale talks and uncertainty over who will run the site next.
- Conflicting reports in October 2026 about whether the operator and licence have moved to Anjouan.
- An offshore licence only, and blocks by several European regulators.
Our verdict: Sportsbet.io is a long-running, genuinely licensed crypto sportsbook, not a fly-by-night site. But the complaint record around verification and big withdrawals is heavy, and its parent has spent the last year saying it wants out of exactly this market. Until the sale question and the licence question are settled, we rate it Mixed: usable by experienced bettors who verify early and do not leave large balances on site, and not a place for anyone who needs strong dispute routes.
Sportsbet.io for UK readers
Sportsbet.io lists the United Kingdom as a restricted country, and it holds no UK Gambling Commission licence, so it does not offer its service to people in Great Britain. A site that is not UK licensed sits outside GAMSTOP, the UKGC's rules and the UK's dispute services, whatever badges its football sponsorships carry.
If you bet with crypto anywhere, remember that balances move with the market, transfers cannot be reversed, and you are usually paid in the coin you deposited. FAQs
Is Sportsbet.io legit?
Sportsbet.io is a real, licensed operator: the Curaçao Gaming Authority shows mBet Solutions N.V. licensed since 22 July 2024 for sportsbet.io, active in October 2026, and the brand has traded since 2016. Legit is not the same as trouble-free, though: it holds only an offshore licence and has a 1.2 Trustpilot score driven by withdrawal and KYC complaints.
Who owns Sportsbet.io?
Sportsbet.io was launched by Coingaming Group, now Yolo Group, founded by Tim Heath in Tallinn. The licensed operator on the regulator certificate is mBet Solutions N.V. of Curaçao. In February 2026 trade press reported Yolo was in talks to sell it, with Betsson named, but no completed sale had been announced by 20 October 2026.
How long do Sportsbet.io withdrawals take?
AskGamblers lists crypto withdrawals at 0 to 1 hour and bank transfers at 3 to 5 days, with no withdrawal fees. In practice the delay is usually verification: KYC is mandatory above EUR 2,500 and can be requested at any time, and large wins are paid in weekly instalments. Several player reports describe long holds during checks.
Does Sportsbet.io require KYC?
Yes, above a threshold. Its terms make identity verification mandatory for withdrawals above EUR 2,500 or the crypto equivalent, and allow the operator to ask for documents at its discretion. Complaints on AskGamblers and Trustpilot often involve repeated document requests, so verifying your account before you need a large withdrawal is sensible.
Can UK players use Sportsbet.io?
No. The United Kingdom is on Sportsbet.io's restricted country list and it holds no UK Gambling Commission licence, so it does not offer betting to people in Great Britain. Sites without a UK licence are outside GAMSTOP and UK dispute services, despite the brand's past English football sponsorships.
Is Sportsbet.io closing down?
Not as of 20 October 2026. Yolo Group said in September 2025 it would leave unregulated markets, and Gaming.net reported the brand would be phased out over time, while February 2026 reports said a sale was being discussed. The site was still trading in October 2026, but players should watch for news and avoid leaving large balances on site.
