Mode 1 and mode 2 collect different multipliers
Gates of Olympus 2500 has two free-spin rulesets, each with an ordinary and a Super version. Pragmatic Play describes mode 1 as collecting multipliers from winning spins. Mode 2 collects all landed multipliers for a total applied to subsequent wins. The Super versions raise the minimum multiplier value to 10x. Those distinctions matter more than simply counting how many orbs appear.
This explanation uses the official public description checked on 13 October 2026. We have not performed a real-money test or verified every local game configuration. The worked sequence below is deliberately invented to isolate the running-total rule. It does not simulate an entire feature, estimate its probability or replace the detailed rules for your supplied version.
Four modes, two questions to ask
| Mode | Which landed multipliers are collected? | Multiplier floor |
|---|---|---|
| Free Spins 1 | Those on winning spins | Ordinary specification |
| Free Spins 2 | All landed multipliers | Ordinary specification |
| Super Free Spins 1 | Those on winning spins | 10x minimum |
| Super Free Spins 2 | All landed multipliers | 10x minimum |
Ask first whether a spin needs a win for its multiplier to enter the running total. Then ask which minimum multiplier applies. These are separate dimensions. Calling every Super round 'mode 2' would lose the first distinction; calling every accumulating round 'Super' would lose the second.
The minimum is a constraint on the value of a multiplier, not a statement that a spin necessarily pays money. A multiplier and an eligible win are different ingredients. Do not use the name Super as shorthand for a guaranteed profitable feature or transfer a rule from one numbered mode to the other.
One hypothetical sequence that is valid for comparison
Starting assumption: running total zero, with no other modifiers or caps involved.
Step A: a winning spin lands a 10x multiplier.
Step B: a non-winning spin lands a 20x multiplier.
Step C: a later winning spin has a £2 unmultiplied award and no new multiplier.
Illustration only: these are invented inputs, not observed spins or a reconstruction of a complete game round.
We use 10x and 20x so the same invented values fit the Super minimum as well as the ordinary example. The exercise deliberately does not assign ordinary modes smaller symbols and Super modes larger ones. Doing that would change the inputs and make the explanation look like a measured comparison of returns when it is not.
Step C happens after both earlier spins have resolved. That timing keeps this arithmetic focused on a subsequent win. It avoids making an unverified claim about the order in which a newly landed mode-2 multiplier affects a win on the very same spin.
The same sequence produces two retained totals
| Mode | After A | After B | Illustrative C calculation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free Spins 1 | 10x collected | Still 10x | £2 × 10 = £20 |
| Free Spins 2 | 10x collected | 30x collected | £2 × 30 = £60 |
| Super Free Spins 1 | 10x collected | Still 10x | £2 × 10 = £20 |
| Super Free Spins 2 | 10x collected | 30x collected | £2 × 30 = £60 |
The £20 and £60 figures explain how the retained totals differ under this invented input. They are not the complete feature payout, because the example does not account for the earlier winning award or the remaining spins. They also do not subtract any amount paid to begin the game or feature.
Ordinary and Super results coincide here because their inputs coincide. The Super minimum changes which multiplier values can appear under its specification, not the rule for adding these particular permitted values. This is a rules demonstration, not evidence that the modes have equal RTP or equal expected returns.
A tumble is not a separate paid spin
The public description gives a 6 by 5 grid with matching symbols paying anywhere and a tumble sequence following a win. Several stages can therefore appear inside one resolved spin. When explaining a running total, preserve the game's distinction between a tumble, the completed spin and the wider free-spin feature.
A clip can show more than one multiplier arriving across those stages. Do not turn each visual stage into a new stake or add an intermediate display twice. The completed award and the final state of the retained total are the useful reference points for an explanation.
For a recorded example, mark where the spin begins and where it settles before doing arithmetic. A paused animation may show a partial award. Without the relevant rule and final result, it is better to label the unresolved state than claim that the displayed multiplier has already paid.
Natural entry and purchased entry are separate
Pragmatic Play describes four or more scatters as triggering 15 free spins, with a wheel determining the mode before the feature. It also describes retriggers. Those are natural-feature rules in the public specification, not a promise that a player can freely select a mode in every local version.
An international product can have feature-purchase controls while a UK-facing version does not offer them. Do not use an international menu to promise local availability or describe a purchase as the only possible way into the feature. The mode, route of entry and amount charged belong in separate fields.
Our bonus-buy guide explains the British context without recommending workarounds. If a video begins after the wheel or payment confirmation, the exact route may be unknown. Leave it unknown instead of assuming that the largest-looking feature was bought.
2500 names a multiplier, not a session prediction
The game's title should not be read as a guaranteed return. A multiplier's upper value, a game's total payout ceiling and the probability of reaching either are separate concepts. A large number in a title does not tell a reader how often a qualifying event occurs.
Use our statistics guide when comparing the ceiling with hit frequency or RTP. Do not derive an unpublished probability from the biggest orb value. Similarly, the running total seen near the end of a highlight cannot establish the average retained total in ordinary play.
A video may select an unusual successful outcome from a much longer session. Without the full stakes, costs and number of rounds, it cannot show session profitability. This guide explains a state rule; it does not rank the modes as ways to earn money.
Retained value is not a settled cash balance
The running multiplier is a game-state value, not money already credited to an account. In the illustration, a retained 30x becomes a £60 calculation only when applied to the specified later £2 win. Without an eligible award, '30x retained' does not itself mean £30, £60 or any other cash amount. Keep state labels separate from monetary labels when explaining a screenshot, and use the completed result for accounting.
Check your version before quoting a number
Record the exact game name, mode label, source date and supplied RTP information before quoting a configuration. Gates of Olympus, Gates of Olympus 1000 and Gates of Olympus 2500 are not interchangeable evidence. A help panel from an earlier title can have similar art while describing a different model.
Our RTP inspection workflow keeps a provider headline separate from an operator's supplied version. If a rule's resolution order or a feature's availability is not documented, do not extend the small illustration to that edge case. The simple ledger here deliberately isolates later application rather than asserting every possible timing detail.
Understanding a rule does not require buying a feature or playing until an example happens. A source-labelled diagram and the supplied information can answer the mechanics question. Keep hypothetical arithmetic clearly labelled so readers do not confuse explanation with a tested outcome or an expected award.
FAQs
What is the difference between Free Spins 1 and Free Spins 2?
Mode 1 collects multipliers landing on winning spins. Mode 2 collects all landed multipliers for a total applied to subsequent wins. Our invented ledger isolates a later winning spin, so it explains that distinction without claiming the exact same-spin resolution order for every edge case. Check your supplied rules for those details.
What changes in Super Free Spins?
The official description raises the minimum multiplier value to 10x. There are Super versions of both numbered modes, so the collection rule still matters. Our identical-input example uses 10x and 20x in all four rows, making ordinary and Super arithmetic coincide without claiming their distributions or expected returns are identical.
Can a non-winning spin add to the multiplier total?
In mode 2, the official description says all landed multipliers enter the running total. Mode 1 collects those on winning spins. A retained multiplier is not a cash award by itself, however. Our hypothetical example applies the retained total to a separate later win, rather than promising a payout on the non-winning spin.
Does the £60 example show what I should expect?
No. The £60 is an arithmetic result for invented inputs: a retained 30x total and a later £2 unmultiplied win. It is not a recorded spin, a complete feature payout or a forecast. The example excludes earlier awards, remaining spins, entry costs and any additional rules or caps.
