Stake.us review: licence, withdrawals, complaints and verdict

A US sweepstakes casino with no gambling licence, glowing Trustpilot scores and a growing pile of state and city lawsuits.

What is Stake.us?

Stake.us is the US-facing sweepstakes sister of the Stake crypto casino, and it is not a licensed gambling operator in the usual sense. It runs on a two-currency model: players buy or claim Gold Coins for play, and receive Stake Cash, a promotional token that can be wagered and redeemed for prizes. Several state and city authorities say that model amounts to illegal gambling. Stake.us and its operator dispute that, and no court has ruled on the core question as of 12 October 2026.

The at-a-glance picture, from the sources we opened:

  • Launched: 2022 (the operator company is dated to 6 July 2022 in a registry-based listing)
  • Operator: Sweepsteaks Limited, Cyprus, company number HE436222 as stated by the operator
  • Licence: none. CryptoSlate lists it as "None required, sweepstakes rules"; it is not a Curaçao or Anjouan casino licence
  • Currencies: Gold Coins (play) and Stake Cash (redeemable); crypto is accepted for purchases, including BTC, LTC, ETH, TRX, XRP, DOGE, BCH and USDT as stated
  • KYC: identity checks apply before redemption; the detail is not published in full on the pages we could open
  • Games: 3,700 plus titles per CryptoSlate, including slots, blackjack, roulette, baccarat, keno, poker and crash games
  • Availability: most US states, with a long and growing list of restricted states; the United Kingdom is on its restricted-country list
  • Our rating: Mixed

It sits in our sweepstakes crypto casinos, streamer casinos and Bitcoin casinos lists. Our full list of crypto casinos explains how we rate.

Our rating: Mixed

Stake.us appears to pay many players and scores 4.4 on Trustpilot, but it has no gambling licence and faces lawsuits from Los Angeles, Florida and others plus state bans, with nothing decided yet.

We rate crypto casinos from public sources only: the licence and what it covers, who owns it, what players report about withdrawals and complaints, how clear its terms are and how long it has been trading. Last reviewed 12 October 2026. How we rate crypto casinos.

History and ownership

Stake.us began in 2022 as a separate US product from Stake.com. Sweepsteaks Limited is the Cyprus company that runs it. Industry profiles tie it to Easygo, the group founded by Ed Craven and Bijan Tehrani, which also owns Stake.com and the streaming platform Kick; one profile notes that Stake.com itself is operated by a different Curaçao company, Medium Rare N.V. Those links come from industry write-ups and from the lawsuits below, and the Los Angeles case names Craven and Tehrani as defendants, as reported by Action Network.

Public information on the operator is thin. A company listing says its launch came without much fanfare, and Stake.us does not publish a Curaçao style licence certificate because it says none is required. That is the central point to understand about this brand: a sweepstakes casino is regulated, if at all, through state gambling, consumer and advertising law, not through a gambling licensor.

The brand has attracted unusual attention for its size because of who promotes it. Rapper Drake and streamer Adin Ross are named in several class actions over their promotion of Stake.us, covered below.

Games and sportsbook

The lobby is large. CryptoSlate counts more than 3,700 games, covering slots, blackjack, roulette, baccarat, keno, poker, crash games and craps, plus a sports section. The Los Angeles City Attorney's office put the figure at over 1,900 games available at all hours when it sued in August 2025, so the catalogue has either grown or the counts differ by source.

The same Los Angeles complaint names third-party studios including Pragmatic Play, Hacksaw Gaming, Evolution, Big Time Gaming, Red Tiger and NetEnt as alleged suppliers, per Public Gaming International. That is an allegation, not a finding. For readers who like to look up slots from those studios, our crypto slots casinos page and slot reviews cover many of them. Stake Originals such as dice and crash style games are the brand's own and carry its provably fair label, which we could not verify here.

Deposits, withdrawals and KYC in practice

There are no cash deposits and withdrawals in the normal sense. Players buy Gold Coins and are given Stake Cash as a free bonus; Stake Cash can be wagered and then redeemed. Next.io lists redemption for crypto, gift cards, merchandise and cash prizes by bank transfer, with minimums of 75 SC for gift cards and 100 SC for cash or crypto. It describes a 3x playthrough on Stake Cash bonuses, and a rule that claiming more free Stake Cash after requesting a redemption can lock the redemption until the new balance is played through. That page does not cover fees, KYC detail or which coins are available for payouts.

Redemption speed depends on the route. The same page says gift cards often arrive the same day and can take up to about 48 hours, and that crypto can take a few hours, varying by network. Stake Cash is described in the lawsuits as redeemable at one US dollar per one Stake Cash, according to the South Carolina complaint as quoted by Sweepsy.

Reports from players split sharply. On Trustpilot (as of 12 October 2026) several reviewers describe fast cash outs, in one case seconds to a bank account, while others report identity verification that would not complete, support tickets left unanswered after a small failed withdrawal, and a bonus balance reduced after the event. Trustpilot says it does not verify reviews. A third-party scan of the domain also cites 77 Better Business Bureau complaints in three years, mostly about service, billing, verification and redemption, but we could not check that figure against the BBB itself, so treat it as unverified.

Licence and safety

There is no gambling licence to check, and that is the key safety fact. A licensed casino can be complained about to its licensor; Stake.us says it is a sweepstakes promotion, so the usual routes for a regulated casino do not apply in the same way. State attorneys general and city attorneys have instead chosen to act against it, which is why this page spends so long on lawsuits.

We found no independent audit, proof of reserves or testing laboratory certificate for Stake.us on the pages we opened. The brand describes its Originals as provably fair; that claim relates to how individual bets can be checked, not to whether a redemption will be honoured. Stake Cash redemptions are paid by the operator, not backed by a regulator, so the practical risk is the operator's willingness and ability to pay, and the risk that a state action or ban disrupts the service in a player's state.

Bonuses and VIP

Stake.us leans on free Stake Cash: daily claims, top-ups when coins run out, and promotions, all of which Trustpilot reviewers mention. VIP hosts are praised in several reviews. Bonuses carry a playthrough: Next.io describes 3x on Stake Cash bonuses before it joins the redeemable balance. We list no codes. Treat any bonus as entertainment value with rules attached, and read the current terms before relying on a balance.

Streamers who play on Stake.us

The best known names are tied to it through litigation rather than through confirmed contracts we could read. Adin Ross and rapper Drake are named defendants in a Missouri class action filed under the name Killham v. Sweepsteaks, as reported by Sweepsy on 28 October 2025 (a pre-filing report at that date), and in a New Mexico case, Torres v. Sweepsteaks Limited, as reported by Open Class Actions. Both are allegations. The New Mexico report says the defendants deny them.

The complaints allege that the pair promoted illegal gambling and that "house money" framing was misleading. Streamers on gambling platforms often play with balances supplied by the casino, which is a reason to read any big on-stream win with caution. Streamers promote Stake.us largely on Kick, which is owned by the same group, according to Action Network.

Complaints, controversies and what has gone wrong

This is where Stake.us differs most from a typical offshore casino: the problems on record are legal rather than a pile of unpaid player disputes. Every item below is an allegation or a case in progress unless stated, and the defendants deny the claims.

  • Los Angeles City Attorney, 28 or 29 August 2025: a suit in Los Angeles Superior Court (People v. Sweepsteaks Ltd, case 25STCV25304 per one report) accuses Stake.us of running an illegal gambling scheme disguised as a sweepstakes. It names Stake.us, Kick, Ed Craven, Bijan Tehrani and game suppliers, and seeks an injunction, restitution and treble damages. Sources: Action Network and Public Gaming International. A Sweepsy headline reported that Stake.us would end operations in California on 30 December 2025.
  • Florida Attorney General, 19 August 2026: two suits in Hillsborough County Circuit Court, one against Stake and one against VGW (Chumba Casino and others), allege illegal gambling and deceptive marketing, and seek an injunction, recovery of players' losses and penalties. No response from Stake was reported by Covers.
  • South Carolina: Sweepsy reports the state attorney's office filed against Stake.us; we could not confirm the court or date.
  • Class actions: Missouri and New Mexico (above), plus others reported in Alabama, Ohio and elsewhere. In New Mexico the defendants moved in early 2026 to compel individual arbitration. The Wikipedia entry on Stake records a ruling dated 30 July 2026 by US District Judge Leonie Brinkema sending a claim to arbitration under Stake's user agreement and pausing claims against the other defendants, though it is unclear which Stake service the ruling covers. The same page quotes a Stake.us representative telling Rolling Stone that a claim was "a nonsense claim."
  • State bans: Indiana's HB 1052 took effect on 1 July 2026 as the seventh state to prohibit dual-currency sweepstakes casinos outright (Public Gaming International, 2 July 2026), with Maine's law expected to make eight. California's AB 831 applied from 1 January 2026.

Against that, Trustpilot shows a 4.4 out of 5 score from 18,825 reviews (76 percent five star, 8 percent one star) as of 12 October 2026, with the profile marked as not replying to negative reviews. A score like that is real data but not proof of fair treatment, since reviews are unverified and the invitation process is the company's. We found no reported hack and no regulator finding that Stake.us has refused to pay players en masse.

The good and the bad

The good:

  • Large catalogue with named third party studios and its own Originals
  • High Trustpilot score (4.4 from 18,825 reviews as of 12 October 2026) with many reports of fast crypto and bank redemptions
  • Free-play route and published redemption minimums (75 SC gift cards, 100 SC cash)
  • Run by a large, well known operator group

The bad:

  • No gambling licence, so no licensor to complain to
  • Sued by the Los Angeles City Attorney and by Florida's attorney general, among others
  • Banned or withdrawn in a growing list of states, with Indiana the latest we found
  • Some reviewers report stalled verification and reduced bonuses
  • Operator and ownership details are thin and mostly from third parties

Our verdict

We rate Stake.us Mixed. The product appears to pay out for many players, and the Trustpilot picture is strongly positive, but the legal footing is unresolved and under active attack from state authorities. None of the cases has been decided against it on the merits that we could find, so we do not rate it Poor, and we do not call it safe either. A US player's access can change if their state acts, and a balance on a platform with pending government litigation carries more risk than one on a settled, licensed site.

A note for UK readers

Stake.us is built for US players and lists the United Kingdom among its restricted countries on the CryptoSlate profile as of our check, so UK readers are not its audience. Any gambling offered to people in Great Britain must hold a UK Gambling Commission licence, which Stake.us does not; UK players would also be outside GAMSTOP and UKGC protections on a site like this. We do not suggest ways around country blocks.

For everyone: crypto balances move with the market, transfers are final, and bonuses come with wagering rules. Gambling is for adults only (18 plus, and 21 in many US states) and winnings are not income. Free, confidential help is available at BeGambleAware.

FAQs

Is Stake.us legit?

Stake.us operates and, by many Trustpilot reports, pays redemptions, but it holds no gambling licence and is being sued by the Los Angeles City Attorney and Florida's attorney general, among others. It is legal in some states and contested in others. No court had decided the core question by 12 October 2026, so we rate it Mixed.

Is Stake.us a real money casino?

Officially no. Players use Gold Coins for play and receive Stake Cash as a bonus, which can be redeemed for crypto, gift cards or cash at a stated rate. Authorities in California and Florida argue this is real-money gambling in disguise. Stake.us disputes that, and the claims are unproven.

How do Stake.us withdrawals work?

They are called redemptions. Next.io lists minimums of 75 SC for gift cards and 100 SC for cash or crypto, with a 3x playthrough on bonus Stake Cash. Gift cards can take up to about 48 hours and crypto a few hours. Players on Trustpilot report both fast payouts and stalled verification.

Which states ban Stake.us?

Indiana became the seventh state to ban dual-currency sweepstakes casinos on 1 July 2026, and California's AB 831 applied from 1 January 2026. Stake.us also restricts a growing list of states itself. The list changes, so check the current terms. We cannot give a verified full list.

Can UK players use Stake.us?

No. The United Kingdom is on its restricted-country list per CryptoSlate. Offering gambling to people in Great Britain needs a UK Gambling Commission licence, which Stake.us does not hold, and UK players would sit outside GAMSTOP and UKGC protections.

Who owns Stake.us?

Sweepsteaks Limited, a Cyprus company, runs it. Industry profiles link it to Easygo, the group behind Stake.com and Kick, founded by Ed Craven and Bijan Tehrani, who are named as defendants in the Los Angeles suit. Details beyond that are thin and mostly from third parties.
