Deep Sea Mafia at a glance

Deep Sea Mafia is a Backseat Gaming slot dated 23 June 2026, played on a 5x5 grid that pays on winlines. The whole game turns on one symbol type: wild reel symbols that expand to fill their reel and bring a random multiplier with them.

There are five of those wild reel symbols, each belonging to its own tier, and the tier decides how big its multiplier can be. The lowest tier carries 2x to 5x, the highest 75x to 200x.

The bonus game adds a twist that makes the tiers matter even more. At its start one of the five wild reel symbols is picked at random, and only that one can land for the rest of the round.

Deep Sea Mafia RTP, volatility and max win

Backseat Gaming lists the RTP as 96.01 % / 94.01 % / 92.01 % / 90.01 %, so the game exists in four versions, each two points apart. The top version returns 96.01% over the long run and the lowest 90.01%, and the RTP shown in the game's own rules tells you which one is loaded.

Volatility is rated High. The hit frequency is 15.84%, which works out at roughly one winning spin in every six or seven, a low figure that fits a game whose bigger results lean on multiplier reels lining up.

The max win is 50,000x the stake, the highest of the published figures and a sign of how far the stacked multipliers can reach. Backseat Gaming's page does not list a bet range, a bonus buy or the number of winlines, so none of those are covered here.

The five wild reel tiers

Each wild reel symbol expands into a full wild reel when it lands, and that reel takes one random multiplier from its own tier. The published values are:

Tier 1: 2x, 3x, 4x or 5x. Tier 2: 6x, 7x, 8x, 9x or 10x. Tier 3: 15x or 20x. Tier 4: 25x or 50x. Tier 5: 75x, 100x, 150x or 200x.

The jumps between tiers are steep. Tier 1 and Tier 2 together cover 2x to 10x in single steps, Tier 3 doubles that, and Tier 5 starts at 75x, more than seven times the ceiling of Tier 2. Which symbol lands matters far more than which value inside its tier comes up.

Because the reel is fully wild, it covers every row of its column, so on a 5x5 grid one wild reel can sit on any winline that passes through that reel.

How multipliers combine on a winline

When more than one wild reel takes part in the same winline, their multipliers are added together before the total is applied to that line's payout. They are not multiplied by each other.

As an illustration of that rule, a winline running through a Tier 2 reel showing 8x and a Tier 4 reel showing 25x pays at 33x. Two Tier 1 reels at 2x and 5x on the same line pay at 7x.

Adding rather than multiplying keeps small reels small: a pair of low-tier reels only nudges a line, while a single high-tier reel does most of the work on its own. The real swing comes when two or more high-tier reels share a line.

The bonus game: one tier for the whole round

At the start of every bonus game, 1 of the 5 wild reel symbols is selected at random, and only that wild reel symbol can land for the entire bonus round. Every wild reel in that bonus therefore comes from the same tier.

That makes the selection the most important moment of the round. A Tier 1 pick limits each wild reel to 2x to 5x for the whole bonus, while a Tier 5 pick means every wild reel that lands carries 75x to 200x.

With the additive rule, a Tier 5 bonus is where the published values get large. As an illustration only, two Tier 5 reels showing 150x and 200x on the same winline would pay that line at 350x.

Backseat Gaming's game page describes what happens inside the bonus but not how it is triggered or how many spins it lasts. The rules screen in the demo is the place to check both before reading anything into a session.

Deep Sea Mafia demo: what to watch

The free Deep Sea Mafia demo on this page runs the game with play credits, so you can see how often wild reels land and which tiers turn up. Note which of the five wild reel symbols lands each time and the multiplier it shows, since the tier is what sets the range.

Watch the winlines that pass through two or more wild reels and check the added total against the payout. In a bonus, look at which wild reel symbol was selected at the start; it tells you the multiplier range for every reel that follows.

With a hit frequency of 15.84%, long runs without a win are normal, and a demo session shows how the mechanics behave, not what any future spin will pay. Real-money slots are for adults aged 18 and over only.

FAQs

What is the RTP of Deep Sea Mafia?

Backseat Gaming lists Deep Sea Mafia's RTP as 96.01 % / 94.01 % / 92.01 % / 90.01 %, so the game comes in four versions. The best returns 96.01% over the long run and the lowest 90.01%. The RTP stated in the game's rules screen shows which version is running, so check it before you play.

What is the max win on Deep Sea Mafia?

The published max win is 50,000x the stake. Large results depend on the wild reels: each carries a multiplier from its tier, up to 200x on a Tier 5 reel, and when several wild reels sit on the same winline their multipliers are added together before being applied to that line's payout.

How do the wild reels work in Deep Sea Mafia?

There are five wild reel symbols, one per tier. When one lands it expands into a full wild reel with a random multiplier from its tier: 2x to 5x, 6x to 10x, 15x or 20x, 25x or 50x, or 75x to 200x. Several wild reels on one winline add their multipliers together.

What happens in the Deep Sea Mafia bonus game?

At the start of every bonus game one of the five wild reel symbols is chosen at random, and only that symbol can land for the whole round. A low-tier pick keeps every wild reel between 2x and 5x, while a Tier 5 pick means each one carries 75x to 200x.

Is Deep Sea Mafia high volatility?

Yes. Backseat Gaming rates Deep Sea Mafia's volatility as High and lists a hit frequency of 15.84%, roughly one winning spin in six or seven. Most of the game's range sits in the wild reel multipliers and in which tier the bonus game selects, which is why results swing so widely between sessions.

Can I play Deep Sea Mafia for free?

Yes. The Deep Sea Mafia demo on this page uses play credits, so you can watch the wild reels expand, see their multipliers add up on shared winlines and check the bonus rules without staking money. It is the same 5x5 payline game Backseat Gaming dated 23 June 2026.
