Stake's Brazil reprieve lasts about a day
Stake's Brazilian operation is offline again after an appeals court cancelled the injunction that had let it reopen. Casino.org reported on 13 October that the Federal Regional Court of the 3rd Region (TRF-3) reversed the order after Brazil's Attorney General's Office filed an emergency appeal, and that the site and app, which came back on 8 October, were unavailable again by 10 October.
The reprieve was narrow. A São Paulo federal judge had authorised Stake Brazil Ltda to keep operating until 25 October despite Provisional Measure 1394/2026, which restricts online betting in Brazil. Jurinews reported that TRF-3 president Johonsom Di Salvo suspended that order on 9 October, reasoning that letting one company trade while the others stayed offline would create regulatory inequality and could invite copycat rulings. The suspension lasts until the underlying case is decided or the court's presidency rules otherwise.
The ban itself is the government's policy, not a finding against Stake. Agência Brasil reported that the measure was announced on 25 September, that platforms were to go offline from 6 October after a withdrawal deadline of 5 October, and that balances left unclaimed were to be refunded through banks between 9 and 14 October. The coverage we opened concerns Stake's Brazilian operation only and describes no change to its service elsewhere.
Stake said when the injunction was granted that the ruling was "an important signal" for the company and the wider sector, and its Brazil site later showed an apology notice, according to Casino.org. A constitutional challenge to the measure sits with Supreme Court Justice Luiz Fux, who has reportedly signalled that he will not rule on suspending the ban until after the 25 October presidential runoff.
EveryMatrix deal adds a 45,000-game catalogue for regulated markets
Stake announced on 15 October that it will use EveryMatrix's casino aggregation technology, according to G3 Newswire. The platform gives access to more than 45,000 casino, live casino, crash, table and instant games from over 360 providers through a single integration, plus exclusive titles from EveryMatrix's own studio, Fantasma Games.
The report ties the deal to Stake's push into regulated territories: it says Stake is gaining local licences in several markets and is aiming at North America, Latin America and Europe. Financial terms, contract length and a start date were not disclosed. For a player the practical reading is limited. A bigger catalogue is a content fact, not a safety or payout fact, and nothing in the announcement says whether it reaches the main crypto site.
New Zealand: the right to apply, not a licence
Yogonet reported on 14 October that Stake progressed through New Zealand's licence auction process and secured the right to apply for a licence under the country's new framework. No licences had been granted at that point, and the market is expected to open in 2027, subject to the licensing process and regulatory approvals.
Yogonet places this after expansions in Alberta, Argentina and Mexico earlier in 2026. Treat it as a step in a process, not a licence in hand.
What the complaint record and the advertised wins show
AskGamblers, checked on 20 October, lists Curaçao Gaming Control Board and Coljuegos (Colombia) licences for Stake. It gives the casino a CasinoRank of 9.4 out of 10 and a player rating of 8.8 out of 10 from 297 reviews, and shows 75 complaints, 46 of them marked resolved in its comparison table (the page's own statistics block shows different totals). The page does not publish Stake's replies to complaints. We did not find a new regulator action, hack or outage against the main site this week.
Stake's own X account spent the week advertising large wins. On 18 October it said someone had landed over $3m from a six-leg football multi, and on 19 October over $1.3m from a three-leg multi. The bettors are anonymous, the posts are marketing chosen by the casino, and we have no way to verify them. Winning posts show outliers, not what a typical player should expect.
The bad news
Stake Brazil is shut again, and the court's reasoning suggests no quick fix before the 25 October runoff. On the player side, 29 of the 75 AskGamblers complaints are not marked resolved in the comparison table, and the main brand still operates under an offshore Curaçao licence with limited routes for disputes. We could not confirm its licence status with the licensor this week.
The good news
Stake keeps adding formal steps in regulated markets, from the New Zealand application right to an established third-party aggregation partner in EveryMatrix. Its AskGamblers scores remain high and 46 of 75 complaints there are marked resolved. None of that is a rating change on its own, which is why our Mixed rating stands. UK readers and crypto basics
Stake's X profile says stake.com is not available in the US, Australia or the UK. Crypto casinos like it are almost never licensed by the UK Gambling Commission, and a casino needs that licence to offer gambling to people in Great Britain, so UK players sit outside GAMSTOP and UKGC protections on such sites. Crypto balances move with the market, transfers are final, payouts often come in the coin deposited and bonuses carry wagering rules. What to watch next
Watch for any Supreme Court move on Brazil after 25 October, any licence decision in New Zealand, and whether the EveryMatrix catalogue appears on regulated Stake sites first. Stake's US sweepstakes site is a separate business with its own legal fights, covered on its own Stake.us page.

FAQs
Is Stake back online in Brazil?
No, not as of the reports we opened. A São Paulo court let Stake Brazil resume until 25 October, but the TRF-3 appeals court suspended that order on 9 October at the Attorney General's request. Casino.org reported on 13 October that the site and app had been unavailable since 10 October.
Why did Brazil take Stake offline?
Brazil's Provisional Measure 1394/2026, announced on 25 September, restricts online betting for all operators, with platforms due offline from 6 October. The appeals court said exempting one company would create regulatory inequality. It is a national policy decision, not a finding against Stake.
What is the Stake and EveryMatrix deal?
Stake will use EveryMatrix's aggregation platform, which offers more than 45,000 casino, live, crash, table and instant games from over 360 providers. G3 Newswire reported it on 15 October. Financial terms, contract length and the start date were not disclosed, and it says nothing about payouts.
Does Stake have a New Zealand licence?
Not yet. Yogonet reported on 14 October that Stake secured the right to apply after progressing through New Zealand's licence auction process. No licences had been granted at that point, and the market is expected to launch in 2027, subject to the licensing process and regulatory approvals, so players should not read it as a finished licence.
Can UK players use Stake?
Stake's own X profile says stake.com is not available in the UK. Crypto casinos are almost never UKGC licensed, so UK players would have no GAMSTOP or UKGC protection on such a site. Gambling is 18+ only, and we do not suggest ways around country blocks.
