Stake.us tells Oklahoma players it is leaving on 30 October
Stake.us will leave Oklahoma entirely at the end of this month. Legal Blackjack reported on 16 October that users can play and redeem sweepstakes coins until 30 October, after which all Oklahoma users lose access. Deadspin, updated on 19 October, says Stake.us told Oklahoma users the platform will no longer be available from 30 October.
The trigger is Oklahoma Senate Bill 1589, which takes effect on 1 November. Deadspin describes it as covering dual-currency systems whose currency can be exchanged for prizes, cash or cash equivalents. It passed the Senate 48 to 0 in March and the House 65 to 21 in May, and lawmakers overrode Governor Kevin Stitt's veto, by 68 to 19 in the House and 34 to 10 in the Senate.
Stake.us is not alone. Deadspin lists ACE Casino as having exited on 6 October, Baba Casino ending sweepstakes coin play on 21 October, GiddyUp ending game access on 19 October, and Coin Wizard Games closing on 28 October. Legal Blackjack says Modo will stay in Oklahoma on Gold Coins only. Stake.us is reported to be leaving completely rather than offering a play-only version.
Florida: lawsuits in August, an ad deadline on 23 October
Florida is the other front. Covers reported that Attorney General James Uthmeier announced suits against Stake and VGW on 19 August in Hillsborough County Circuit Court, alleging that slots, blackjack and poker offered under a sweepstakes label amount to real gambling that avoids Florida's licensing, tax and consumer protection rules. Separate actions name payment companies Worldpay, Trustly, Praxis and Breeze Labs. The state seeks permanent injunctions, disgorgement of gains, civil penalties and recovery of consumer losses. Covers reported no response from Stake.
On 25 September the attorney general wrote to Google, Meta, Reddit, Snap and TikTok, naming Stake among the brands advertised, and asked them to confirm by 23 October what they will do to stop sweepstakes ads reaching Florida residents. That deadline falls three days after this week closes. We found no new court hearing or ruling in the Florida cases this week. These are allegations by the state, not findings.
The older lawsuits have not moved this week
The Virginia class action is the best known. Front Office Sports reported in January that two Stake.us users sued Sweepsteaks Limited, Drake, streamer Adin Ross and creator David Nguyen in the Eastern District of Virginia, alleging racketeering and consumer protection violations and damages above $5 million. Wikipedia records that on 30 July 2026 Judge Leonie Brinkema ruled that an arbitration clause in Stake's user agreement sends the dispute with Stake to a private arbitrator, pausing the claims against the other defendants. A Stake.us representative called the claim "a nonsense claim".
We found no new ruling in that case this week. Allegations in a lawsuit are not proven, and arbitration means the dispute with Stake is not heard in open court.
What players say, and what Stake.us posts
Trustpilot showed a TrustScore of 4.4 from 18,948 reviews on 20 October, with 8,181 in the previous 12 months. Of those reviews 76 per cent were five stars and 8 per cent one star, and the page says the company has not replied to negative reviews. Of the latest 20 reviews, two were low: a 2-star dated 13 October saying the reviewer had not earned anything, and a 1-star dated 19 October headlined as a complaint about false advertising.
On its X account, Stake.us describes itself as a completely free and social casino, 21+, unavailable in restricted territories. During the week it promoted a poker event on 17 October with a guaranteed prize pool of 24,000 SC, and its other posts carry the notice "No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited. 21+". Oklahoma's law, as Deadspin describes it, covers currencies that can be exchanged for prizes or cash, which is where the free label and the legal fights meet.
The bad news
Another state exit, a state attorney general's lawsuit, pending class actions and no gambling licence stated: Stake.us relies on sweepstakes rules instead, which is exactly what Oklahoma's new law and Florida's suit challenge. Trustpilot also shows no company replies to negative reviews.
The good news
Oklahoma users get a window to play and redeem until 30 October rather than an abrupt cut-off, which is the orderly way to leave. Trustpilot reviewers rate the site 4.4 and most of the latest reviews are positive. Our Mixed rating stands, and the full Stake.us review explains the model and the risks.
UK readers and crypto basics
Stake.us is a US-facing site that states no gambling licence, so it holds no UK Gambling Commission licence, and UK players would have no GAMSTOP or UKGC protection there. We have not confirmed whether it lists the UK among its restricted territories and we do not suggest ways around any block. Crypto balances move with the market, transfers are final and payouts can arrive in crypto. See the sweepstakes crypto casinos guide and the crypto casino section for comparison. What to watch next
Three dates matter: 23 October for the platforms' answers to Florida, 30 October for Stake.us leaving Oklahoma and 1 November for the law taking effect. Any ruling in the Florida suit or the arbitration would also change our view.

What is the 23 October Florida deadline?
Florida's attorney general asked Google, Meta, Reddit, Snap and TikTok to confirm by 23 October what they are doing to stop sweepstakes casino ads, including Stake, reaching Florida residents. It is a letter to ad platforms, not a court order, and the deadline falls after this week's news period.
