Buffalo Horizon: Watch the Rooftop

Buffalo Horizon is a Yggdrasil video slot set across the American wilderness. A Park Ranger travels through four national parks, guided by four bison, on a quest to protect nature and become the trail's guardian legend, which gives the game its badge-and-bison look.

Its defining feature is a small 3×1 Rooftop Slot sitting above the main reels. Yggdrasil lists five features in all: Rooftop Slot, Ranger Spins, Expanding Wild, Free Spins and Rooftop Free Spins. The Rooftop Slot is tied to most of them, with the chance to award Free Spins, Expanding Wilds and Free Spin Boosters.

Yggdrasil has not published the RTP, volatility, hit frequency, max win or bet range for Buffalo Horizon on its game page, and it gives no release date there either. This page does not fill those gaps with estimates.

Other Yggdrasil game pages do carry these figures: the one for 3 Wheel Reel lists four RTP versions, a volatility rating, a hit frequency and a max win. Until Buffalo Horizon's figures appear, the help screen of the version you open is the only reliable source for its return, stake range and top prize.

The Rooftop Slot is a single row of three positions built into the roof of the lodge that frames the reels. In Yggdrasil's screenshots it sits over the middle three of the five main reels, and the main grid shows three rows.

Yggdrasil says the rooftop adds an extra layer of anticipation because it can trigger Free Spins, Expanding Wilds and Free Spin Boosters. Its feature images show what can land there: Ranger Spins symbols, a gold Park Ranger Wild, a winged Free Spins symbol marked +4 and blank map panels.

The page does not explain how often the rooftop spins, whether it spins with every main-reel spin or how many matching symbols each award needs. Those are the key rules to read in the paytable.

Buffalo Horizon's Expanding Wilds grow downward across the reels, turning whole reel sections into Wilds. Yggdrasil frames this as the way the game levels up, since a column of Wilds can complete wins across every row it covers.

The Expanding Wild image on Yggdrasil's page shows the idea in action: a Park Ranger Wild in the rooftop's right-hand cell, and the fourth main reel beneath it filled top to bottom with Wilds. The written description does not mention a multiplier on the Wilds, so none is assumed here.

Buffalo Horizon has two free spins modes, one reached through the main reels and one through the Rooftop Slot. Yggdrasil adds that Rooftop Free Spin symbols award additional free spins and boosters.

Yggdrasil's Free Spins image shows winged Free Spins symbols marked +3 on the main reels, with three of them highlighted. Its Rooftop Free Spins image shows a winged symbol marked +4 on the rooftop alongside +3 symbols below. The page does not say how many symbols start either mode, so treat those values as examples from the studio's images rather than a full table.

Ranger Spins is listed as a feature with no written description. In the screenshots, Ranger Spins symbols appear only on the rooftop, and one image shows all three rooftop cells filled with them and lit up. Yggdrasil does not say what that awards, and the Free Spin Boosters are named without any detail of what they boost.

The screenshots show four park badge symbols named Glacier Lake, Mystic Canyon, Iron Mountain and Pine Ridge, each in its own colour, plus bison symbols set against blue lake, green forest and purple mountain backdrops. The gold Park Ranger Wild can appear on both the main reels and the rooftop.

The whole grid sits inside a timber lodge with stone steps and a mountain skyline behind. Yggdrasil does not publish symbol values on the game page, so symbol payouts are for the demo's paytable to show.

Yggdrasil's demo runs on play credits, and because the game page is light on numbers, it is the best way to fill the gaps. Start with the help screen: RTP, bet range, max win and the number of lines or ways.

Then check the rooftop rules: how many Ranger Spins symbols award the feature, what a rooftop Wild does to the reel below it, and what the Free Spin Boosters change. Finally, compare the two free spins modes, since Yggdrasil says they are reached by different routes.
