Octo Attack at a glance
Octo Attack is a Hacksaw Gaming slot built around winning positions that leave marks on the grid. These Ink Stains can later be used by the Eye of Otto symbol, turning the aftermath of one win into the setup for another grid change.
The central feature is called Tenta-Grab. It randomly selects a symbol already present on the grid, then copies that symbol onto every Ink Stained position and the Eye of Otto position itself. Wilds, multiplier-bearing Wilds, and FS scatter symbols can all be selected.
How wins create Ink Stains
After a win is calculated, the winning symbols are removed and new symbols drop into their places. Every position involved in that win is marked with an Ink Stain.
In the base game, Ink Stains do not remain indefinitely. They are removed after Tenta-Grab uses them, and any unused stains are reset between spins. This makes the order of events important, since the Eye of Otto must land while marked positions are still available.
Wild symbols and multiplier values
The standard Wild substitutes for every symbol in the paytable. Wild symbols can also land with an added multiplier value.
The listed Wild Multiplier values are 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 7x, 8x, 9x, and 10x. Their connection to Tenta-Grab is particularly relevant because the mechanic is able to select both ordinary Wilds and Wild Multiplier symbols.
Eye of Otto and Tenta-Grab explained
The Eye of Otto activates Tenta-Grab when it lands on a grid containing Ink Stains. Once triggered, the mechanic randomly grabs one current symbol. All stained positions, along with the Eye of Otto position, are then replaced by copies of the selected symbol.
The selected symbol can be a low symbol, high symbol, normal FS scatter, Wild, or Wild Multiplier. If Tenta-Grab selects a Wild or Wild Multiplier, there is also a chance for the replacement symbols to become Wild Multipliers. This conversion is possible rather than guaranteed.
Triggering Eighth Arm Is the Charm
Octo Attack's free spins feature is named Eighth Arm Is the Charm. It is activated in the base game by landing at least three normal FS scatter symbols at the same time.
The number of triggering FS symbols determines the initial number of free spins. For example, three normal FS scatters award three free spins. This direct relationship makes the trigger count part of the feature setup.
What changes during free spins
Ink Stains behave differently during Eighth Arm Is the Charm. Instead of resetting between spins, they remain on the grid until Tenta-Grab uses them. This gives marked positions a chance to carry forward across the feature.
Additional normal FS symbols can extend the round when they land together. Every three normal FS scatter symbols appearing at the same time during the feature award one extra spin.
What to watch in the Octo Attack demo
The Octo Attack demo is useful for following the sequence behind Tenta-Grab. First note which positions form a win and receive Ink Stains. Next, watch whether an Eye of Otto lands before those marks reset, then check which grid symbol is randomly selected and copied.
It is also worth comparing the two Ink Stain rules. Base-game stains reset between spins if they have not been used, while feature stains remain until grabbed. Watching that distinction makes the purpose of the free spins feature easier to understand.
Octo Attack review summary
Octo Attack's defining idea is the relationship between removed winning symbols, persistent grid positions, and a random symbol-copying mechanic. The Eye of Otto does not work in isolation, since it requires Ink Stains before Tenta-Grab can activate.
Wild Multiplier values of up to 10x, the possibility of copying Wild-related symbols, and retained Ink Stains during free spins add further variations to that core process. The demo provides a straightforward way to see how those rules unfold without overlooking the difference between base-game and bonus behavior.
